Field Day 2013

Field Day!!!  Always a fun day for everyone.  I'm so thankful I was able to be with my kids for most of the day to watch their events.  Preston's class had Field Day during the morning and it was cloudy with a slight breeze.  So nice!

Preston was so excited to start the day!

It was so funny watching the kids trying to keep the sponge between their heads.

Wet hair!

This was by far the best game called 'Jack and Jill'.  The kids had to carry the bucket on poles, up the hill, above their head.  They fill the bucket with water and carry it back down without spilling.  Well, I think it spilled for each kid and it was so funny seeing them get wet.

Trying to get the balls around the bar was a difficult task.

Look at that kick!

The 'Egg Relay'.

The classes favorite event is 'Tug of War' against each other.  Even the teachers join in.

The 50 meter dash was against each class and Preston beat his competition.  He is determined!

Still all smiles at the end!

Kaitlyn's class participated in Field Day in the afternoon.  By that time, the clouds were going away and it was starting to warm up.

She did really well kicking the ball into the goal each time.

Here's the 'Jack and Jill' game again.

And it fell...and Kaitlyn got wet...and she screamed...and I laughed.  So glad I got this picture.

Her class loved doing the water games because of the dreaded sun.   Her teacher and new husband did it as well.  The kids loved seeing that.  After the game, they all went to the pools and jumped in and/or poured the water over their heads.

More wet hair!!!

Kaitlyn is concentrating so hard on that egg.

Kaitlyn had a popsicle break to cool down and I got to join her.  It was very refreshing.

The classes headed into the gym to play a game called 'Nuke 'Em'.  You have to throw the balls back and forth over the volleyball net and don't let them touch the floor.  If you do, you're out.  This is pretty much how Kaitlyn participated-she just stood there.  Brings back memories! ;)

Hot outside!!!

 Tug of War time!

And what do you do at the end of Field Day?  You come home and crash!

Royal Rangers/MPact Girls Ceremonies

It's that time of year when all the award ceremonies are held.  First, Preston had his Royal Rangers ceremony where he is completing his first year as a Ranger Kid.  He proudly held the Christian flag during the ceremony.

He was very stoic as Commander Dave read off the list of badges and patches he earned this semester.  He worked hard and accomplished A LOT!!!

This is his favorite commander, Commander Craig, aka Dad.  Preston completed everything he possibly needed to complete for this year.  Now he is all ready to get started on his badges and patches for next year.

The following week was Kaitlyn's MPact Girls ceremony where she is completing her first year as a Star.  She got to hold the American flag during her ceremony.

Kaitlyn also completed everything she needed to do for this year.  MPact Girls works differently than Royal Rangers so she didn't have to do as much work at home.

Now, she is all ready for her second year of Stars.

Way to go Kaitlyn and Preston!  We are so proud of both of you!

T-ball, Spring 2013

Preston just finished his 3rd season of T-ball.  Boy, does he love playing!  He was always so eager to go to every practice and every game.

Thankfully, Preston was able to be on the same team and get the same coach that he had last Spring.  Preston has had 2 coaches with 2 different teams and Coach Kevin is by far our favorite.  He has taught Preston so much!

Always a big grin before every game.

I love seeing the whole team warming up in whatever empty field space they can find.

Craig tried to be on the field as much as he could.  Here he is giving some advice to Preston at 1st base.

Catching the grounder.

Preston just randomly picked #12 as his uniform number when he played his very first season.  He has been able to keep the same number for the Fall season and again for the Spring season.

Every game ends in a pep talk from the coach and he gives a few pointers.

Preston is warming up with Craig before the very last game of the season.  He definitely has an arm.

This season of T-ball was modified pitch.  That means they get 3 chances to swing at a coach pitched ball.  If they miss, then they get 2 tries off the tee.  If they still miss, then it's considered an out.  Preston loves hitting that ball!

During one of the innings, Preston played "pitcher".  He is great at stopping the ball.

He did not have a single injury all season, but then it happened.  The ball was hit, bounced off the mound and hit Preston in the right eye.  He tried to block it, but it got him good!

The coaches gathered around him, players gathered around, the umpire gathered around, and yes, even I went out there.  I was taking pictures through the fence and saw the whole thing through the lens.  Poor guy was crying and the game was on hold for about 5 minutes until he could pull himself together to finish the inning.

When he was up to bat for the next inning, he hit that ball HARD!  He was so proud when he was able to score a run for his team.

Showing off his hurt right eye after the game.

As usual, the game ends in a talk with the coach.  The team did so great this season and he was super proud of them.

Their final Orioles cheer.

Not only did Preston have a great last season of T-ball (next season is all Coach Pitch), he went on to tryout for the All-Star team and made it!!!  Coach Kevin will be his coach again and Preston's uniform number is, you guessed it, #12.

Way to go #12! We are so proud of you, Preston!!!

Family Pictures-Spring 2013

We recently had family pics done in Southlake Town Square.  We took them early one Saturday morning before the area got crowded.  It was a little chilly still, but otherwise the weather was great.  We used the same photographer that took our photos last year.  She's quick, inexpensive, and takes great photos!  Here are some faves:

We tried to spell out 'LOVE'.

Our Christmas card last year showed us kissing in the background and the kids in the foreground making faces.  The card said "Merry Kissmas".  I think we're going to keep the tradition for this year.

There is a gorgeous fountain at the Town Square.  I had wondered if Craig was going to try to get in it for a picture.  Sure enough, he did.  And he wanted to pose with me in his arms.  It's his favorite picture.  :)

We took several pictures and I've provided the link so you can view them.  Thank you Cortney from Memories Imagined Photography!!!

Mother's Day

Mother's Day was a week ago, but I'm still relishing all the love that my family showed me.  It started Friday when my kids brought home the gifts they made from school.  Kaitlyn made an acronym from MOTHER.  For the letter 'R', she said I rock my outfits!!!  Preston brought me some flowers in a can and the paper around it tells what he loves about his mom.  He said he loves when I help him decorate the Christmas tree!!!  So funny!!!

Saturday night, Craig brought me this beautiful bouquet of flowers.  He also brought me a cake from his store.  I LOVE Kroger cakes!

After dinner, he and the kids went shopping and let me enjoy some quiet time.  That was a great gift too!  They came home and showered me with gifts and they were awesome!  I had also received wonderful things from my mom and mother-in-law.  Craig worked on Sunday, so we went to dinner at our annual Mother's Day restaurant, Mimi's Cafe.  Delish!

I had a great day and felt the love.  Thank you to my family for showing me how much I am appreciated!!! xoxox
