Summer Days Drifting Away...

We always find it humorous when people ask if we are going to enjoy summer since school is over and we have nothing to do. It is quite the opposite for us. Summer is one of our busiest times. Actually, it seems like we're always busy and we rarely slow down.

Kaitlyn finished school June 3 and it has been non-stop activities since then. I still work at the Mother's Day Out Summer Camp on Tues/Thurs. I still work Sundays as the Preschool Sunday School Coordinator. Those two things alone keep me plenty busy. But do I stop there? No way!

There have been horseback riding lessons, playdates, birthday parties, lunch/dinner with friends, Music Camp, Movie Camp (we see a different kids movie every Friday-10 movies cost $5), Kids Camp, recitals, fundraisers, etc., and that's just in June.

This is the 4th year summer that I've told Craig my boyfriend is visiting. His initials are VBS. VBS!!! Once again I'm the VBS Coordinator and while I absolutely enjoy it, it is A LOT of VOLUNTEER work!!! But I work with an amazing Children's Pastor that takes care of part of the planning as well. I always have an awesome group of volunteers that are willing to put at least a week of their life on hold to minister to children. As VBS gets closer (20 days away), the more time I have to put into it. However, it is all so worth it when I hear how much fun all the kids have or more importantly, how Jesus has changed their lives.

Time off? No. But the busyness is what keeps my family going. I received a pamphlet in the mail the other day from a Christian organization I support and this Scripture was on the cover:

"Then Jesus said, 'Come to me all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.'"-Matthew 11:28 NLT

When I read that, it was if God himself sent me that piece of mail! It's now hanging on my fridge, next to our schedules, and I read it every day, several times a day.

July 29 is our last day of VBS. We have our Family Fun Night that night and we start to tear down. July 30, our family is disappearing for awhile and having a much needed vacation like this.

Well, we won't be going to the beach, but we will be relaxing and not having to wake up to alarms. What we do that week is not planned (well, not completely) and we will (try) to be as spontaneous as we can with our activities.

Stay tuned for July...
